Brand New Day

Teslemetry has rebranded and now has a new word mark, brand mark, and color!

I've always been jealous of the clear and distinctive logos of my fellow third party apps, and while the Teslemetry hero image, which was beautifully drawn to spec by Rzvxv, did a great job of representing Teselemetry for the past 10 months, I needed something which looked clear, even when very small. Specifically the website favicon, and for use on Bluesky, Discord, and other third party platforms.

Brand Mark

Using inspiration from the hero image, I created a simple brand mark which depicts two data streams, representing the bidirectional data Teslemetry provides. The two streams then form a subtle lightning bolt in their negative space, representing the electric future provided by the Tesla's products we connect to.

While I was able to design the very simple brand mark myself, I knew I would need help if I really wanted to uplift Teslemetry's brand identity.

Using inspiration from the brand mark, Little Green Leaf designed the Teslemetry word mark using the excelent Connect Font with some Teslemetry specific modifications. Just like the brand mark, the word mark includes the data stream motif in the top left and bottom right corners. Its bold all capital letter makes it easy to read while the disconnected lettering reflects on the technical/DIY nature of Teslemetry.

Color Palette

Little Green Leaf also helped with defining a new color palette, with our new feature color Electric (#256ed8) being used in most instances since it looks good in both light and dark mode. We also have the varients Sky (#a0bde0) and Midnight (#183a6b) when higher contrast is needed. Occasionally when the background is unknown, such as the headline of this blog, we flip colors with a white (or black) word mark set on an Electric background.
